Aspen Indigenous Foundation
I met Joe in 2022 when he came to Aspen to write an article about the Aspen Indigenous Foundation. It was during our annual Pow Wow.
I was amazed at how Joe was connecting so easily with everyone regardless of their background, age and gender. People immediately would open up, let Joe take their pictures, share their stories, exchange their contacts, which is not so common among the Indigenous crowd.
Joe has the eye for capturing unique moments and expressions, eternalizing certain feelings, messages, situations. When we say that a picture is worth a thousand words, it is true with his photography.
Over the years, he has made countless trips up north from Texas, sharing his professional talent and endless generosity to promote indigenous cultural events sponsored by the Aspen Indigenous Foundation, driving sometimes more than 30 hours to come support our grassroots programs that benefit Native youth, all the way to the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana!
Joe has become a true friend, an invaluable counsel with his extended knowledge of First Nations, always ready to extend a helping hand. His great ability at connecting with people is reflected in his work. Aspen Indigenous Foundation is very grateful to have Joe Center as a contributor to the promotion and expansion of our non-profit organization.
